About Ireland

Ireland is often characterized as a green land with friendly people, interesting small villages and a gentle welcoming place to be. All this is true and there is much more, a fascinating history, a brave and courageous people, landscapes and vistas to dream of, music to fill your ears and soul. Literary traditions lie deep in the culture of Ireland from the least to the most educated people and make for vibrant theater experiences and an emphasis on written and spoken word culture. Ireland has changed greatly in the past ten years or so, and at the same time has hardly changed at all. The new spa hotels offer great luxury and comfort and the cuisine is outstanding. Dublin has become a wealthy and highly urban environment, but somehow many of the old traditions survive. Many of the old buildings do survive, adding greatly to the experience of the traveler to this country of many changes and yet a strong sense of the past and the importance of Irish history and culture in its many forms.
